Supreme Court Rejects Review Petition for OBC Quota to Jats

In a major blow to the Jat community and the Centre, the Apex Court today rejected the Review Petition Filed by the Central Govt of India to re-consider its Previous decision not considering Jats eligible for this Quota in Education and Govt Jobs.

The Previous Congress Govt had given the OBC status to the Jats considering their social and economic status. The petition was filed in the Supreme Court against this move. But in the meantime, the Congress regime was replaced by Modi-led BJP Govt.

The SC had cancelled the Quota for the Jats saying that they were not eligible for it. Consequently the people of the community were not liable to enjoy the Quota benefits.

Even the students of this community who had appeared in some Entrance tests and had got admission on the basis of the Quota had filed case in the Supreme Court. That petition was also rejected.

Then many representatives of Jats met the PM Mr Narendra Modi who assured them of full support and taking their case to the SC for the Review. But here on this front also, the govt and the community succumb.

Some Jat leaders are criticizing the Centre Govt and Haryana Govt for poorly handling this issue. Now it would be interesting to see as to how the Central Govt and Jats take this decision and what their strategy would be.
